Brian S. Corns, 46, formerly of West Lafayette, died in Celina, TN on Saturday, June 19, 2010 as a result of injuries suffered in a boating accident while on a service call. Born April 11, 1964 in Lafayette, he was the son of Charles E. “Jack” and Nancy (Stair) Corns of Celina, TN. He was a 1982 graduate of McCutcheon High School and attended Vincennes University and Purdue University. Mr. Corns was dock manager for the family business in charge of houseboats, cottage rentals, and groundskeeping for Cedar Hill Resort and Marina on Dale Hollow Lake in Celina, TN. He was previously maintenance supervisor for Franklin Park Apartments in West Lafayette and C & N Rentals in Lafayette, which were also family businesses. He had worked over 20 years in the family businesses. He had also been director of Maintenance at University Inn in West Lafayette. He was a former member of Carpenters Union, Local #215 and the Tippecanoe County Conservation Club. He enjoyed boating, fishing, 4-wheeling, golfing, and Nascar. He was an avid Purdue basketball and football fan. Surviving with his parents is a daughter, Karly N. Corns who made her home with her father in Celina, TN; a step-daughter, Brittany Brown; a brother, Charles E. “Chuck” Corns II (wife, Jennifer) of Lafayette; four nephews, Charlie Corns III, Matthew Corns, Jacob Corns, and Dillon Gerstung; one niece, Delaney Corns; one step-granddaughter; and several aunts and uncles. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Service 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, Celebrant Denis E. Horn officiating. Burial to follow at North Union Cemetery.
